A Probability Model for Occurrences of Large Forest Fires

By Yixun Shi

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijem.2012.01.01, Pub. Date: 29 Feb. 2012

Forest fires occur at various spots and various times all around the world. One of major efforts in forest fire management is to estimate the probability of occurrence of fires so that people would be better prepared to control those fires. In this paper, we establish a probability model and a numerical procedure for estimating probability of occurrences of large forest fires. A simulated numerical experiment is also presented to illustrate the application of the probability model and the numerical procedure.

By Jiayang Wang Wensheng Wang Shaogui Wu

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijem.2012.01.02, Pub. Date: 29 Feb. 2012

SA-SVM model was proposed in which parameters were optimized by simulated annealing. Parameter (the kernel function) and C (the error discipline) are the key factors to the precision of SVM. Simulated annealing was used to optimize the key parameters of SVM to make enhancement on the forecasting effect of SVM. By applying this proposed model for several function optimizations, results of which demonstrate the improvement of SA-SVM on the high model accuracy in the optimization searching, and it can overcome the blindness of the model parameters.

By Liang Ma Feng Liu Liangliang Chen Ming Hong

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijem.2012.01.03, Pub. Date: 29 Feb. 2012

Crop evaportranspiration was studied with measured data of Kongque river irrigation district in Xinjiang Province based on application of BP neural networks, a sensitivity analysis about crop evaportranspiration was conducted according to each input factor by using default factor method, and the grey relational analysis method was applied to certify the results. The results showed that the artificial neural networks model could express quantitatively the response relationship between crop evaportranspiration and various factors with sufficient high accuracy. Soil moisture and solar radiation were the main sensitive factors for soil water-salt dynamic in this irrigation district, the interaction amongst various factors formed coupling relationship under the complicated condition. The grey relational analysis method could further verify the sensitivity degree amongst various factors. The combination of the above methods provides feasible method for analyzing the rules of crop water comsumption during crop growing season, and it is complement and perfection for the traditional research methods of crop evaportranspiration.

The Detection of Intrusion Through P2P Botnet Based on the Analysis of Successful Connection Rate and Average Packet

By LIU Jian-bo

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijem.2012.01.04, Pub. Date: 29 Feb. 2012

Through the research on the mechanism of the P2P botnet, this paper proposes a algorithm of intrusion detection by P2P botnet based on the analysis of successful connection rate. According to the flow, it gets a data collection including three vectors, such as source IP, destination IP and package size, does dynamic analysis of the successful connection rate and average packet. Through the comparison with the methods between the traditional network and normal P2P,this paper provides intuitive figures in which we could locate the position of intrusion by P2P botnet accurately, therefore the algorithm could provide the gist for detecting the intrusion in time.

Revising Algorithm for Pathology Image Stitching

By Haishun Wang Limin Chen

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijem.2012.01.05, Pub. Date: 29 Feb. 2012

Image stitching for pathological slice splices several adjacent images into an integrated seamless picture which is significant in remote medicine, especially remote diagnosis. However, because of limitations of image acquisition method, some mismatch could occur. This paper proposed a new image mosaic revising algorithms based on the relativity of adjacent images. After experimental verification, the 20 groups inaccurate pathological mosaic images were revised rapidly and accurately with error controlled within a pixel. It is proved that the algorithm is effective in revising the error matching in pathological images mosaic.

Resistance to Intelligently Controlled Low Air Humidity and High Temperature of Cymbidium Luck Gloria

By Chuangui Yang Yubao Gao Ling Xu

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijem.2012.01.06, Pub. Date: 29 Feb. 2012

The paper conducted thorough research on the adaptability of Cymbidium Lucky Gloria (CLG) through different temperature and relative humidity levels by using intelligent artificial climate chamber. The effects of single and tow collaborated factors on plant surviving are explored. It finds that temperature’s role in CLG surviving is the most significant. The surviving rate reaches only 23.0% with the extreme level of temperature (410C, first period; 240C, second period). Extreme high temperature surpasses the endurance of heat shock proteins (HSPs), and leads the plants died. The survived plants under extreme levels are of excellent attributes for the succeeding strain invention.

An Association Study of Energy and Substance Transformations in Ripening Process of Banana Damaged by Loading Force

By Fengying Xu Zhen Chen Pengcheng Wang Changyou Li Ce Xu Yongfeng Chen Xingbin Luo

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijem.2012.01.07, Pub. Date: 29 Feb. 2012

Researches on the relation of a loaded mechanical energy to the damaged banana maturation and its quality evolution has significance to its storage, but there are few researches at present. This paper studied on the effect of the loaded energy on banana to its internal maturation substance evolution and stored quality with time, including the change of maximum impact stress, re-enduring impact energy. The results showed there existed a significant correlation between energy transformation and increment of maturity substance in the damaged banana. Also, there existed a significant association between energy transformation and increment of maturity substance in the damaged banana in its storage time, and appeared a trends that the mechanical energy being transferred into fruit internal energy increased its maturity substance and decreased its stored quality, but individual maturity difference had less effect. Thus, decreasing the energy and the substance transformation in damage area are the important means of extending the physiology life of fruits, which is an urgent problem to be solved in their field of processing and storage at present.

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijem.2012.01.08, Pub. Date: 29 Feb. 2012

In this paper, a kind of special vehicle routing problem based on reality-- vehicle routing problem with facultative demands is presented. The attributes of the problem and the optimization target are described. The mathematical model of the problem is set up. To solve the problem, A meta-heuristic approach called tobu search (TS) is put forward. The neighborhood structure and the parameters of TS algorithm are designed respectively. The proposed algorithm is successfully applied to a case and the result indicates the TS algorithm is practicable and valid.

A General Simulation Framework Based on CAN Bus for Satellite Design

By Cheng Long Cai Yuanwen Liu Danghui

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijem.2012.01.09, Pub. Date: 29 Feb. 2012

The running status of a satellite can be imitated realistically through the use of an interactive simulation system, in which actual hardware can join for testing and validation. To solve the problem of interfaces and communications between different members in a satellite simulation system, an on-board interactive simulation system based on CAN bus is established. Several simulation members are built according to the composition of real system. Interfaces of drivers included in simulation members are packaged into a uniform interface, thus the on-board simulation system is established with the foundation of CAN bus simulation framework. Uniform communication interface of each simulation member is designed and realized, the framework of simulation flow is established, and foundation of intercommunion and operation between simulation members is laid. Experiment results prove that the framework can work stably with great efficiency and high flexibility, and expected effect is achieved.

This paper is devoted to the numerical solution of projected generalized continuous-time Lyapunov equations with low-rank right-hand sides. Such equations arise in stability analysis and control problems for descriptor systems including model reduction based on balanced truncation. A parameter free iterative method is proposed. This method is based upon a combination of an approximate power method and a generalized ADI method. Numerical experiments presented in this paper show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
