The Navigation Risk Assessment Using Wavelet Neural Network

By Xin Cao Shidong Fan

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijeme.2011.04.04, Pub. Date: 29 Oct. 2011

Factors that influence the security of navigation have the characteristics of dynamics, randomness, uncertainty and mutual influence, so the system of navigation security is a typical non-linear system. Due to the limitations of traditional mathematical methods solving the non-linear system, this article combines artificial neural network model and wavelet analysis to construct the wavelet neural network model for the navigation risk assessment, and puts forward the index system, weights calculation and algorithm with examples. Results shows that the wavelet neural network model for evaluating can be solved the defects such as subjective arbitrariness and the fuzzy of conclusions existing in traditional evaluation methods, and it can do better than the common artificial neural networks in fitting accuracy and convergence rate, so the application of wavelet neural network model has an important value.

Agricultural Research Resource Sharing Model Based Grids

By Liu Haihui

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijeme.2011.04.05, Pub. Date: 29 Oct. 2011

Grids provide a high-performance computing, resource management and service capacity through the composition of high-speed Internet, fully integrated sharing resources including geographically distributed computing resources such as CPU, memory, databases, etc. There exist duplication in the system, some devices are frequently used, and some devices are long idle, there is ineffective share in China's agricultural scientific research and resources, so the agricultural research and resource sharing platform based on Grid are constructed. making the network's each user can access shared services with other users authorization, can solve "information isolated island" problem which exists in agricultural informationization to a certain extent, effectively use the resources of agricultural research to promote our country's rapid development in agricultural science research.

Work-Integrated Teaching Mode Based on An E-learning Platform

By Lina Yu

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijeme.2011.04.06, Pub. Date: 29 Oct. 2011

In work-integrated learning, students leave teachers to practice on work placement, but the teachers can still use e-learning to monitor student through an e-learning platform and it allows students to actively learn the theoretical knowledge. Work-integrated e-learning (WIEL) is a new research field, focusing on learning processes concerning both employees and organizations, using e-learning as a way of gaining new knowledge relevant for the work process. Learning at work is more multidimensional learning compared to educational institutions

Discovery and Practice of EDA Experimental Teaching Reform

By Xianmin Wei

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijeme.2011.04.07, Pub. Date: 29 Oct. 2011

EDA experiment is one of practical, professional and highly specialized basic application courses in electronic communications professional, how to use EDA laboratory? How to carry out EDA experimental teaching in order to improve teaching effectiveness? These are issues by EDA teaching staff to think and explore. In this paper, with the shortcomings and deficiencies of experimental teaching of traditional EDA, combined the teaching practice of Weifang University, proposed experimental teaching reform thinking of EDA with teaching system systematic, open and teaching methods, teaching evaluation comprehensive, complete security system experiment.

An Empirical Study on Concordance-based English Collocation Teaching

By Shan Liu Zhinan Ma

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijeme.2011.04.08, Pub. Date: 29 Oct. 2011

The wide use of computer has led to the reform in modern English teaching approach. Computer concordance, a new multicontext presentation mode, provides a new way for collocation teaching. This study explores if there is any difference between on-line concordancer teaching approach, concordance-based explicit teaching approach and traditional deductive approach on college students' collocation use and retention. The findings provide empirical support for concordance-based explicit teaching approach's superiority to other approaches in promoting the immediate use and long-term retention of target collocations, which is measured by immediate and delayed test. Teachers are well-advised to pick up the typical concordance lines deliberately, annotate difficult words when necessary before handing out worksheets to learners.

Automatic Estimation of Emotional Parameters for An Intelligent Avatar

By Jing Yuan Baochen Jiang Menghan Sun

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijeme.2011.04.10, Pub. Date: 29 Oct. 2011

This paper analyzes automatic estimating of emotional parameters from 2D photos based on the MPEG-4 rules. Each affective face image which obtained from a novel picture questionnaire is divided into three parts. The deformation function which calculates the displacements of vertices meshes within the influence of facial animation parameters are discussed. This paper develops geometric and morphological image processing methodologies to lifelike facial expression synthesis. Finally a 3D audio-visual avatar is created which gives the same expression corresponding to the input image. Experimental results are given to support our point of view. The experimental results show that our system properly applied in describing emotional facial expression.

Apply Student-Centered Learning on Computer Education

By Yiqun Chen Jiajian Yin

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijeme.2011.04.11, Pub. Date: 29 Oct. 2011

It has been long noticed that students are lacking the motivation for those type of teacher-centered learning environment. Student-Centered Learning (SCL) is used in the literature to indicate the shift of emphasis from the teacher to the student as the heart of the learning process. In this work we have discussed the methodology of SCL, presented our experience of applying SCL on computer education. Students play the active role in this process and take responsible for their own learning. Tutors are required to use new method to deliver knowledge, being a guider more than an expert.

Evacuation Simulation of Counter-current Behavior Using Agent Model for Pedestrian Dynamics

By Xiaoan Zhao Yanyan You Ying Zhang

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijeme.2011.04.12, Pub. Date: 29 Oct. 2011

It is an important issue that all occupants should be able to evacuate to safety from sports stadium under emergency. The behavior of occupants is quite complex, and individual behavior will greatly affect the result of the evacuation. Such as the phenomenon of counter-current behavior, sub-group behavior, following behavior and so on. In this paper, we mainly study the counter-current behavior, and a system simulation model is presented, which based on the agent technology. And in order to study the effect on evacuation, two cases have been studied to analyze the impact of evacuation. Simulation processes and results display that the counter-current behavior will be harmful for the movements of people. Simulation processes and results display that the model is very close to real movements of people.
