Learning Computer Network by Writing Your Own Protocol Analyzer

By Zhi Chen Chunmiao Yuan Na Sun

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijeme.2012.10.01, Pub. Date: 29 Oct. 2012

Computer network is one of the fundamental courses for college students majoring in CS, CSE and EECS. The objective of this course is to explain the basic principles and architecture of network based on TCP/IP. However, many students find the course quite abstract and difficult to understand. Inspired by the idea of "learning by doing", we propose a learning approach by asking the students to design and to implement their own protocol analyzer during the course. This task not only synthesizes the knowledge of all the important protocols ranging from data link layer to application layer, but also bridges the gap between theory and practical aspect. Promising feedbacks from students demonstrate that this method is very helpful for student to study computer network.

A Dynamic Scheme Based on Clustering for Wireless Sensor Networks MAC Protocol

By BAO Li-yong ZHAO Dong-feng ZHAO Yi-fan

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijeme.2012.10.03, Pub. Date: 29 Oct. 2012

Wireless Sensor Networks(WSNs), as one of the most important techniques in the 21st century, receives auniversal attention to the research on its key techniques.A solution is urgently expected to meet thehigher-quality service requirements of various applications on the limited bandwidth of wireless networks.Based on the ideas of Priority-based polling transmission with high-efficiency, and dynamic self-adaptation to loading, this paper presents a new analysis model of MAC Scheme of wireless sensor networks, which has made possible the Cluster Header capable of differentiating the nodes of different priority levels under mixed services policy and which has improved the flexibility and adaptability of the system via adjustment of the switch-in service in three time of load change input. The theoretical model of this protocol is established with Markov chain and probability generating function. Mathematical analysis is made on the mean queue length and the mean inquiry cyclic time of the common queue and the key node. It turns out that the findings from theoretical analysis correspond well with those from simulated experiments.

The effect of connecting reading and writing in foreign language teaching in the computer mediated communication environment

By Wang Ying

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijeme.2012.10.04, Pub. Date: 29 Oct. 2012

This paper reports a study investigating the effects of connecting reading and writing in Chinese EFL teaching in the computer-mediated communication (CMC) learning environment. In this study, ways of reading which are likely to promote the development of writing ability are sought and tested. What the subjects in the experimental group and the control group did is almost the same except that subjects in the experimental group are asked to write a 400-word summary or reviews after they finish learning each text while those in the control group are not. Results show that connecting reading and writing has positive effects on helping the students to memorize the new words, reusing new words in their writing tasks and improving the students' writing quality.

The Discussion of Teaching Effection about Combination of Architectural Graphing and CAD

By Hu Yu Zhang Ming

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijeme.2012.10.05, Pub. Date: 29 Oct. 2012

Architectural graphing and CAD are two important specialty basic courses to those students of Civil Engineering. In this paper, teaching method, tools, effection and interaction are analyzed and the question which teachers meet in operation and their hard work are discussed in detail. In addition, it is also discussed in this paper that how to bind them together and make teachers express the advantage, then, students can accept it with pleasure.

The Linguistic Analysis of Sound Ambiguity and Meaning Ambiguity

By Cong-ying Liu

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijeme.2012.10.07, Pub. Date: 29 Oct. 2012

This thesis will talk about ambiguity by classifying it into sound ambiguity and meaning ambiguity. In the first part, the author will discuss the theories in ambiguity namely the Q-and R-principle and IC-analysis which are the most basic and important in the analysis of ambiguity. In the following part, the author will analyze the sound ambiguity and meaning ambiguity in detail. Polysemy and homonymy are the main causes of sound ambiguity. Culture and context are the main causes of meaning ambiguity. And in the last part the author will discuss the advantage and disadvantage of ambiguity. Ambiguity can be seen as a sword that has two blades. The positive side should be studied to make the language becomes more interesting and vivid. The negative side should be avoided to make the writing or speech more accurate.

A MDA-based campus data analysis and visualization framework

By Jiangning Xie Xueqing Li Lei Wang Yuzhen Niu

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijeme.2012.10.11, Pub. Date: 29 Oct. 2012

As the rapid development of high education informatization, it will be a new important research topic to con-duct the data mining and visual analytics to the existing data in the separated information systems. The existing campus information system is the integration of some business systems, so the system has some problems, such as it stores the data separately and it has poor ability to analyze data. In order to solve these problems, we pro-pose Model Driven Architecture (MDA) based campus data analysis and visualization framework. The frame-work is composed of multi-dimension data modeling, data extraction, visualization-based data exhibition, and some other modules. Data extraction solves the problem caused by separately stored data and heterogeneous data. Multi-dimension data modeling analysis and visualization enhances the analysis ability of existing system. Based on the idea of MDA modeling analysis, we provide a rapid develop platform of campus business for both business analyzers and developers.

Vane Design Which Based on Finite Element Analyzing Method

By Jiabin Tong Yiming He

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijeme.2012.10.12, Pub. Date: 29 Oct. 2012

We have studied the design method of wind power generator vanes. And on the basis of the whole structure’s analysis, we have simplified its structure by studying aerodynamics. We can consider the simplified continuous structure into the combined body which constructed by many finite units which are only connected by means of finite nodes. We have built rigidity equation for every unit firstly on the basis of unit analysis. Then we have gotten the whole structure’s equilibrium equation by combing all units. We have solved the equation by introducing boundary conditions. So we have gotten the approximate solution. During the process of solving, we have mainly studied the analyzing finite element method which based on computer.
