Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is a business process management system that integrates and automates the activities of an organisation in terms of its technology, human resources and services.  ERP provides an integrated environment that links the business processes of different departments of an organisation into one unit so that departments benefit from each other through their joint transactions. This study applies the ERP concept to create an employee attendance monitoring system (EAMS). Three departments, HR, Finance and the Director of Administration, were linked using the EAMS. The traditional system of attendance monitoring was time consuming and required greater effort.  This is because the attendance report needed to be printed from the HR department and then sent to the Finance Department for any necessary actions (i.e. salary deduction).  The EAMS will automate the whole process, thus resulting in fair decisions in less time. In the traditional system, the any delay in calculations of attendance can be unwarranted or maintaining an accurate time record can be difficult as it is manually updated. To solve these issues, a computer based monitoring system is required to establish accuracy and fairness. For that purpose, we designed and developed the EAMS. The EAMS automatically calculates any delay in employee attendance using the concept of ERP systems. More precisely, this system will calculate the delay in the attendance within set rules,  as defined and applied by the different departments in the organisation. The attendance times will be checked automatically by the system: if there is any delay which violates the set rules of the organisation, necessary action will be taken automatically against the employee in terms of salary deduction or other notifications. To apply the EAMS, we constructed a case study at the “Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at King Abdulaziz University, (Female Section)”. Later, it is hoped, that this system can be used in other organisations based on their needs and enhancement to the existing framework.  The expected results of this system are that it will save time and effort for all employees at the Faculty of Economics and Administration.  In addition, there will be a reduction of errors in the attendance reports.

Technological developments have rapidly become a global trend, which can be analyzed with specific activities are integrated using a computer to assist the work of man. Aware of the importance of mastering technology, preferably accounting teachers at the University emphasizes how important mastery of computers and software on most courses in order to equip the students so that they can increase their value in the business world. This research aims to confirm the influence of computer attitude, Grade Point Average, computer self efficacy against computer anxiety on University accounting majors Gunadarma. This research use 100 questionnaires as a method to acquire the datas. then the data were analyzed by using multiple linear regression analysis and data processed to get a positive result the existence of negative influence among computer attitude, grade point average, computer self-efficacy against computer anxiety.

Proposed Risk Management Model to Handle Changing Requirements

By Mohammad D. Aljohani Rizwan Qureshi

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijeme.2019.05.03, Pub. Date: 8 Sep. 2019

The change in requirements while construction of a software may bring into several risks like over budget and extra schedule. The changes in requirements are considered as a high risk to fail the software projects. A good project manager always incorporates risk management paradigm to manage the risks of changing requirements. This research uses available statistical techniques to estimate the cost of risk management with respect to the changing requirement. In addition, a hybrid cost estimation model is proposed using action strategy model to counteract, mitigate and manage the risks of changing requirements. The proposed model is validated using an industrial case study in Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) to conclude the results. The results are found supportive because the proposed model shows significant improvement to estimate the costs of changing requirements as compared to the existing cost estimation models.

A Brief Study on Enhancing Quality of Enterprise Applications using Design Thinking

By Suman De Vinod Vijayakumaran

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijeme.2019.05.04, Pub. Date: 8 Sep. 2019

With the increase in automation for business processes, the competition among the software vendors have exponentially increased. The goal of empathizing with customer and understanding and delivering a product exactly as the customer demands, has become the primary focus for every software development firm. The lack of interaction between the development team and the end-user has always been the primary reason for software products not adhering to end-user expectations and multiple steps have been taken to address the same.
Design Thinking has been highly rated in terms of understanding the customer requirements and has found its way in terms of how a product is to be developed. This paper looks at various software testing methodologies and how design thinking can impact the same in terms of enhancing the quality and finally delivering the right product to the customer.

The Role of Curriculum and Incubator towards New Venture Creation in Information Technology

By Trianggoro Wiradinata Tony Antonio

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijeme.2019.05.05, Pub. Date: 8 Sep. 2019

The number of entrepreneurs in Indonesia in 2017 has increased to 3.1%, which is a good development, compared to the previous years. Some of the factors that are suspected to contribute in this improvement are education and mentoring through various programs, including curriculum and incubator. Although it has increased, but this figure is still behind compared to neighbouring Indonesia's countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. Therefore, it is important to conduct an explorative study of the role of curriculum and incubator. This article will review the curriculum and incubator strategies that help increase the number of entrepreneurs, especially in the field of information technology in Indonesia. A qualitative comparison among several incubators, including Ciputra University approach discussed. This study found that the role of curriculum is to create a formal knowledge about ideation and process of start-up, incubator role is to provide physical co-working space while widen network resources. Another finding shows that there are some similarities and differences between industrial-based and university-based incubator. There are similarities in the resources, networking and guidance. The significance difference is in the curriculum since university has more time to guide but the student has lesser capacity compare to the industrial-based incubator start up, hence both experiences are strongly suggested to increase the success rate of Information Technology based Venture Creation.
