Analysis and Design of Prefetching Framework for Mozilla Firefox

By Neha Sharma Sanjay Kumar Dubey

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijieeb.2015.05.02, Pub. Date: 8 Sep. 2015

The presence of number of web sites has increased the user's attraction towards web objects. This tremendous use came up with the future requests prediction depending upon the current and past access behaviour. Use of Internet has boomed up a lot since the last decade. This use also came with the heavy load on the internet. In today's world, speed plays a significant role and hence the speed augmentation is one of the biggest issues. For this, web latency reduction by prefetching is one of the good ideas. For the same, web prefetching is performed, where user's next expected requests are prefetched in the web cache of the web browser. A browser is basically a GUI based application program, which provides a platform for running Internet. Mozilla Firefox is a web browser, which is in very much use these days. This paper provides an analysis of Mozilla Firefox prefetching technique (link and DNS prefetching) and then designs a new prefetching scheme for the same. The experimental results are performed in Matlab 5.0. The results show that the designed prefetching framework is more efficient in terms of the cache hit ratio.

Software Quality Appraisal Using Multi-Criteria Decision Approach

By Sanjay Kumar Dubey Disha Sharma

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijieeb.2015.02.02, Pub. Date: 8 Mar. 2015

Software quality measurement is the key factor in the development of any software system. Various software quality models are devised to measure the performance of a software system, which consists of numerous quality parameters on the basis of which software are quantified. Different types of software quality models are already present like an ISO/IEC9126 Quality model, Boehm's model, McCall's model, etc. In this paper, an attempt has been made to increase the quality of a software system by introducing some new quality parameters in ISO/IEC9126 model. Since the quality parameters are very unpredictable in nature, so as to evaluate the performance of quality parameters, the fuzzy multi criteria approach has been used.

Measurement of Usability of Office Application Using a Fuzzy Multi-Criteria Technique

By Sanjay Kumar Dubey Sumit Pandey

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijitcs.2015.04.07, Pub. Date: 8 Mar. 2015

Software Quality is very important aspect for any software development company. Software quality measurement is also a major concern for improving the software applications in software development processes in these companies. The quantification of various quality factors and integrate them into various software quality models is very important to analyze the quality of software system. Software usability is one of the important quality factors now days due to the increasing demand of interactive and user friendly software systems.
In this paper, an attempt has been made to quantifying the usability of Ms-Excel 2007 and Ms-Excel 2010 application software using ISO/IEC 9126 model and compare the numeric value of usability for both version of Ms-Excel 2007 and Ms-Excel 2010. Due to the random nature of the usability attributes, the fuzzy multi criteria decision technique has been used to evolve the usability of the software office application. The present method will be helpful to analyze and enhance the quality of interactive software system.

Evaluating the Maintainability of a Software System by using Fuzzy Logic Approach

By Ritika Vern Sanjay Kumar Dubey

DOI: https://doi.org/10.5815/ijitcs.2015.01.08, Pub. Date: 8 Dec. 2014

Maintainability is an important quality attribute for almost every quality model. Maintainability of the software is considered as most expensive phase in software development life cycle as it consumes almost major part of the total effort allocated to the software system. Maintainability evaluation is complex due to its imprecise output. This paper proposes a maintainability model by considering its fuzzy aspects. Since fuzzy modeling deals with uncertainty and impreciseness so this paper uses fuzzy methodology and AHP technique to evaluate the maintainability of the model. Object oriented system has taken as case study for maintainability evaluation purpose.
